Steampunk, here I come

After researching the genre for the past week or so, I have decided that when I start into National Novel Writing Month tomorrow, I will delve into the world of Steampunk. My first attempt I am calling Tom Horn versus the Warlords of Krupp. It’s a tongue-in-cheek look at the world of 1900, starting in the Big Bend area of Texas, where Tom Horn journeys into Mexico to steal his horses back from Pancho Villa. When he returns, he is recruited by Teddy Roosevelt, then governor of New York, to journey to New York, London, then Vienna to serve as bodyguard for his 16-year-old niece Eleanor. In the meantime, soldiers from the Krupp Arms dynasty will be trying to thwart their efforts. At stake is no less than the future of Europe and the world, as Tom Horn and Eleanor Roosevelt try to prevent World War from breaking out.

Kinda cornball but fun. We’ll see where this takes us.

More later.
