NaNoWriMo is halfway completed, and so am I. Sort of.
Well, I have almost 25,000 words written, but the book isn’t anywhere near halfway done. In fact, when the rough draft is done, as any of you who have written a book know, the work is just getting started.
I mentioned on Twitter the other day that my writing on this project ranges from “sheer brilliance to unadulterated crap, with it heavily leaning toward the latter.” Right now, I am stuck on a scene that is supposed to happen, and I am not sure how I want to make it happen. In addition, real life is getting in the way, as it does sometimes. So I’m putting the book on hold, at least for a few hours.
The other thing tickling in the back of my mind is how flat my book sales have been lately and the statistic I saw last week that overall book sales were down 16%. People just aren’t reading anymore. It’s depressing, especially when you love reading like I do and writing just as much. You have to keep the energy up for projects like this, and hearing that kind of deflates you sometimes.
But I have hopes for this book and this series. I promised you a glimpse at Soul Survivor, so I will do that in the next day or two.
